Sheffield Ice Hockey Academy

Tomorrows future stars. Sometimes its not always about business, it’s about helping others develop for the future.

As a fanatical Sheffield Stealers Ice Hockey fan, I wanted to be involved in the development of our future stars. I know what teamwork brings to people. Something that is missing in our age of digital social media and gaming. It is all about giving our young people a purpose of playing and working together.

Northern Groundcare has been involved with Sheffield Junior hockey development for over 6 years and over last 3 years Northern Groundcare Ltd have supported the Sheffield ice hockey academy through sponsorship of teamwear, tournaments and most recently helping the Midlands conference team.

It’s a family affair, as my wife Linda is currently a manger for the development team for the under 11s arranging games, tournaments, away travel and looking after the Childers welfare.

Our main aim as sponsors and volunteers is to give the children the opportunities to follow their dreams and to have them play in a team sport that takes them away from the day pressures of the techno life we live in today.

SHEFFIELD Ice hockey academy was founded in 1991 and is run by a group of volunteers of coaching staff, team managers to a management committee looking after approx. 180 players from the ages of 4 years old all the way through to the 20s team

Many players from the academy have gone on to make Careers from hockey both home and overseas and represent their country at the highest level.

The academy is based at one of the best facilities in the UK – Ice Sheffield, which has twin ice pads as well as easy access to the famous institute of sport which has seen great Sheffield athletes such has Jessica Ennis and World Champion Antony Joshua using the facilities during training camps.
